Everyone who sits the paper is placed in order of score. Where many students score close together, a few marks can move you hundreds of ranks. That is why a single marks number cannot describe a cutoff.

IMU CET Cutoff: How Marks Become Rank, and What the 2026 Cycle Showed
For Class 12 PCM students — Physics, Chemistry, Maths · age 17 to 25 (relaxations apply) · girls and boys. Not PCM? This path is not open to you.
The IMU CET cutoff is not one “safe marks” number. Your marks become a rank; counselling uses the rank; the cutoff is where the seats ran out for a course, campus and category. Here is how to read it.
How marks become rank
Cutoff means closing rank
For each course, campus and category, IMU allots seats in rank order until the seats are gone. The last rank allotted is the closing rank, and that is the real cutoff. It is published in IMU’s official allotment lists, round by round.
Each course closes differently
DNS, B.Sc Nautical Science and B.Tech Marine Engineering have different seat counts and different demand, so they close at different ranks. A score that is strong for one course can sit outside the band for another.
What moves the closing rank
How many candidates appeared and how their scores clustered; how hard the paper felt; seats per course and campus; how many top ranks chased the same campuses; category seat rules; and how preferences moved between rounds.
Later rounds can reopen options
When students with higher ranks decline or move, seats reopen in the next round. Students who keep documents ready and stay flexible on campus often do better than those who freeze after round one.
“Expected cutoff” tables
Unofficial tables appear every year. Treat them as rough context. The authority is your rank card and IMU’s official counselling lists for that year.
What the 2026 cycle showed
IMU CET 2026 results were declared in June 2026 on the official IMU portal, with the rank card downloaded from the candidate login. Counselling then ran in rounds. DNS demand was sharp, because many families see it as a fast route to deck training. B.Tech Marine Engineering closed on a different curve, shaped by engine-room preference and campus reputation. B.Sc Nautical Science rewarded students who stayed flexible on campus.

What to do with your rank
Write down every course you would actually join, then every campus you can reach and afford, in true preference order. Use past closing ranks only as context. Keep your rank card, certificates, category proofs and fees ready so a sudden allotment does not expire unused.
Eligibility and the DG Shipping medical still sit after allotment. A rank that wins a seat can still lose it at the medical. Book the check with an approved doctor early.

What was the IMU CET 2026 cutoff for DNS?
The closing ranks for DNS by campus and category are in IMU’s official 2026 allotment lists, which change by round. We do not publish a number here because any single figure would mislead. Read the official lists on imu.edu.in.
How many marks do I need for a good rank?
There is no fixed figure. Rank depends on how everyone else scored that year. The practical target is to be well inside the band for the course and campus you want, which is why NavPath mocks give an all-India practice rank rather than a bare score.
My rank is low. Is the year lost?
Not automatically. Widen the campus list, follow every round, and keep documents ready. Some students also prepare for the next cycle while taking part in the current counselling. For repeaters, NavPath curates the module per student after a thorough analysis.
