IMU CET is a timed, computer-based, multiple-choice test set by the Indian Maritime University, covering Physics, Chemistry, Maths, English, aptitude and general knowledge. Question counts and marking are published each year. Here is what stays constant.
Mechanics, electricity and magnetism, optics, modern physics and waves at Plus Two depth, tested as multiple-choice questions. Recent cycles have emphasised Physics and Mathematics, so these two subjects carry the most weight in a preparation plan.

Those figures are not repeated here because they can change between cycles. Before you plan, open the brochure on imu.edu.in and write down four things: total questions, total marks, duration, and the negative-marking rule.
If the year uses negative marking, every practice set you sit should too. Learn to skip a trap. A blank that protects your score beats a guess that sinks a rank band. Build a personal skip rule in mocks, for example: if two solution paths fail in sixty seconds, flag it and move on.
Every question is multiple-choice with one correct option. There is no descriptive writing. The paper mixes direct formula questions, short numericals, reading passages and one-line awareness questions. The challenge is not any single question; it is holding accuracy across six sections while the clock runs.

The undergraduate IMU CET is a common paper, and the course choice is made in counselling after the rank. Confirm in the current brochure, since IMU can adjust the pattern for specific programmes.
