What Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy is
The Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy (AEMA) is a residential pre-sea training academy at Karjat in Raigad district, Maharashtra, run by the Anglo-Eastern group, one of the largest ship management companies in the world. It opened in 2009 and trains cadets who then sail on ships the company manages.
AEMA’s website lists a DNS course for students after Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths. It also lists GME and ETO courses, but those are for engineering graduates. AEMA does not list B.Sc Nautical Science or B.Tech Marine Engineering on its course page; if that changes, the institute’s website is the place to confirm it.

For mechanical engineering graduates only. Listed here so that you do not apply to the wrong course.
ETO (Electro-Technical Officer)
For electrical or electronics graduates only. Not open to a Class 12 student.
How admission to AEMA works
Company selection first
Unlike an open college, AEMA’s DNS seats are filled through Anglo-Eastern’s own cadet selection. The usual rounds are an online test, a psychometric test, an interview and a medical. Read our Anglo-Eastern company guide for the detail.
IMU CET
DNS at an IMU-affiliated academy sits on IMU CET, so plan for IMU CET May 2027 alongside the company’s rounds. The current notice states exactly how the two fit together in that year.
Medical
A DG Shipping-approved medical with a strict deck-side eyesight and colour-vision standard. Check it early.
Joining
A selected cadet joins the residential course at Karjat. Discipline and routine are part of the training from day one, which is why the interview looks for them.

Questions to settle before you apply
- Which course is right for you: DNS, B.Sc Nautical Science or B.Tech Marine Engineering? Decide this in counselling with a parent present.
- Have you checked eyesight and colour vision with an approved doctor? Do it before you spend a year preparing.
- Have you read the institute’s current eligibility for Class 12 marks, English and age on its own website?
- Do you understand that admission and company sponsorship are two separate decisions by two separate bodies?

Can I apply to AEMA directly, like an ordinary college?
AEMA’s DNS seats are filled through Anglo-Eastern’s cadet selection. Apply through the company’s notice when it opens, not through a general college application.
Does AEMA offer B.Sc Nautical Science or B.Tech Marine Engineering?
Its course page lists DNS, GME and ETO. Confirm the current course list on the institute’s website before you plan around a degree course there.
Is IMU CET required for AEMA?
DNS is an IMU programme, so IMU CET is part of the route. The company’s notice for the year states how your IMU CET result is used.
