What Fleet Management is
Fleet Management Limited is a Hong Kong-based ship management company and part of The Caravel Group. It manages a large, mixed fleet for shipowners: bulk carriers, tankers, container ships and gas carriers. Like other managers, it does not own most of the ships it runs, but it does recruit, train and employ the crews.
The company has its own training arm in India, the Fleet Management Training Institute, and its published cadet notices cover DNS as well as a B.Tech Marine Engineering pathway. Since 2025 the International Maritime Institute at Greater Noida has been part of the same group, and the company has said cadets from there are offered the chance to sail with it.
The usual Fleet Management cadet route
Fleet Management has published notices for both the deck and the engine side. The routes below are the pattern; the current notice on the company’s training site is the only source for this year’s terms.
- DNS: the company selects Class 12 PCM students through its own rounds, then sponsors a one-year DNS course, followed by sea time as a deck cadet on a Fleet-managed ship.
- B.Tech Marine Engineering: the company has published notices offering a conditional cadet pathway to students taking B.Tech Marine Engineering at the International Maritime Institute. The conditions are in the notice.
- B.Sc Nautical Science: cadets are also recruited from degree colleges through campus selection during the course.
- In every route, the company’s written offer is what leads to the ship. Keep every letter and e-mail.

1. Check the foundation
Review the current course eligibility, age, PCM and English requirements, then ask whether the route is DNS, B.Sc Nautical Science or another approved programme.
2. Confirm medical readiness
Discuss eyesight, colour vision and other medical questions early. Only an approved medical practitioner can determine fitness for sea service.
3. Apply through the official channel
A typical industry process may begin with an official vacancy or approved recruitment channel. Do not treat a coaching centre, social post or forwarded form as proof of authorisation.
4. Prepare for tests and interviews

5. Read the selection terms
Before accepting anything, verify the course, fees, training sequence, joining conditions and who makes the sponsorship decision. Keep the written official terms.

Does Fleet Management sponsor DNS cadets from India?
The company publishes DNS cadet notices through its training institute in India. Whether a notice is open right now is on that site. Check it before you apply anywhere else.
Is IMU CET needed for the Fleet Management route?
For a DNS or degree seat at an IMU-affiliated institute, yes. Plan for IMU CET May 2027 and the company’s rounds together.
What is the B.Tech Marine Engineering pathway?
The company has offered a conditional cadet pathway to Class 12 PCM students joining B.Tech Marine Engineering at the International Maritime Institute. Read the conditions in the notice; they matter.
What types of ships would a Fleet cadet sail on?
Fleet Management runs a mixed fleet, so a cadet may be posted to a bulk carrier, tanker, container ship or gas carrier. The company decides the posting.
Is there any fee to apply?
Established companies do not charge to consider an application. If a middleman asks for money to “arrange” a Fleet cadet seat, stop and verify with the company.
