What Synergy is
Synergy Marine Group is a ship management company headquartered in Singapore, founded in 2006. It manages a large fleet of tankers, gas carriers, bulk carriers and container ships for shipowners around the world, and runs a network of training centres, several of them in India.
Synergy has a strong Indian footprint, with offices in Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi. It publishes its own cadet entrance test, the Synergy Common Entrance Test, and has announced a DNS training tie-up with the Shipping Corporation of India’s Maritime Training Institute in Mumbai. For a Class 12 PCM student, that makes Synergy one of the companies with a clearly visible cadet route.
The usual Synergy cadet route
Synergy runs a company entrance test and then trains cadets at institutes it works with. The pattern below is drawn from what the company has published; the current notice is the only source for this year’s terms.
- DNS: clear IMU CET, appear for the Synergy Common Entrance Test and the interview rounds, and if selected, join a one-year DNS course sponsored by the company, followed by sea time on a Synergy-managed ship.
- B.Sc Nautical Science and B.Tech Marine Engineering: Synergy also recruits cadets from IMU campuses and affiliated colleges through campus selection.
- GME and ETO routes exist for engineering graduates. They are not open to a Class 12 student.
- Whichever route you take, the sponsorship letter is what leads to the ship. Keep the written terms.

Synergy’s selection is company-run and starts with its own entrance test. The stages below are the usual pattern; check the current notice for dates and centres.
Psychometric test
Personality and behaviour questions. Answer consistently and as yourself.
Interview
A panel of Synergy officers, often including a sailing master or chief engineer, asks about motivation, family support, science basics and your view of life at sea.
Medical
DG Shipping-approved medical examination with eyesight and colour-vision standards.
When intakes are announced
Synergy has published a merit list for its entrance test on a yearly cycle, timed ahead of DNS batch starts. Typically once or twice a year; confirm the current notice on Synergy’s official careers page.

1. Check the foundation
Review the current course eligibility, age, PCM and English requirements, then ask whether the route is DNS, B.Sc Nautical Science or another approved programme.
2. Confirm medical readiness
Discuss eyesight, colour vision and other medical questions early. Only an approved medical practitioner can determine fitness for sea service.
3. Apply through the official channel
A typical industry process may begin with an official vacancy or approved recruitment channel. Do not treat a coaching centre, social post or forwarded form as proof of authorisation.
4. Prepare for tests and interviews
Written tests, communication, technical or aptitude conversations and document checks can vary by employer and intake. NavPath runs company-specific exam and interview modules for this stage.
5. Read the selection terms
Before accepting anything, verify the course, fees, training sequence, joining conditions and who makes the sponsorship decision. Keep the written official terms.

Questions students ask about Synergy
What is the Synergy Common Entrance Test?
It is Synergy’s own online test for cadet selection. The company publishes a merit list from it. It does not replace IMU CET, which is still needed for a DNS or degree seat.
Does Synergy sponsor DNS cadets from India?
Synergy has published cadet notices and a DNS training tie-up in India. Whether a notice is open right now is on the company’s careers page.
Where are Synergy’s selection rounds held?
The test is online. Interviews have been held at company offices in cities such as Chennai and Mumbai. The notice names the centres for each intake.
